The NVIDIA RTX 5080 might be the most exciting GPU of 2025. While the RTX 5090 gets all the headlines, the RTX 5080 delivers the same Blackwell architecture at a much more palatable $999 price point.
Built on the GB203 GPU, the RTX 5080 features 10,752 CUDA cores, 84 RT cores, and 336 Tensor cores. It comes with 16GB of GDDR7 memory at 28 Gbps across a 256-bit bus, delivering 896 GB/s of bandwidth.
DLSS 4 with Multi Frame Generation is the game-changer here. In supported titles, the RTX 5080 can match or exceed RTX 4090 performance at a fraction of the cost. In Cyberpunk 2077 at 4K with full ray tracing and DLSS 4, we saw average frame rates of 140+ FPS.
Native rendering performance without DLSS is approximately 35% faster than the RTX 4080, and about 5-10% behind the RTX 4090. For pure 4K gaming, it's more than enough for any current title.
The power efficiency is notable. With a 360W TDP, it's 100W lower than the 4090 while often matching its performance. A standard 850W power supply should handle this card comfortably.
The Founders Edition features a refined dual-slot cooler that keeps temperatures in the low 70s under load. Third-party cards are arriving with various cooling solutions and modest factory overclocks.
